Hello again lovelies.. I'm here today with a set of clean & simple cards created with the Colour Artist Inks, Colour Embossing Powder & Uniquely Creative dies.

I heard on the grape vine a little while ago that the lovely Mel Struths had a thing for lightbulbs so was super excited when I got to turn my little lightbulb doodles into dies for Uniquely Creative. I had a million Colour Blast projects in mind when creating these dies and couldn't wait for them to be made.

To celebrate the release of these dies, Uniquely Creative is giving away a set of the Lightbulb dies & the Scripty Sunshine die & a couple packs of Embellies too. For all the info how to enter read the info at the bottom of the email.

Now, lets get onto making some cards...

For the backgrounds I cut down some watercolour paper to 5" x 7" and taped them down to a hardwood board with low tack masking tape. I wet down the paper with a wide brush and then dropped in little amounts of the Colour Artist Inks with a round paintbrush.

I let each layer dry completely (you can speed up the process with a heat tool) and then wet down the surface again and dropped in more colour.

For the greens & blues I used a combination of the Citrus, Lime, Grass, Mermaid & Oasis Colour Artist Inks.

I did the same process here with three layers and while the last layer was still wet I sprinkled on some salt crystals and let them sit for a good few hours.. I wasn't patient enough to let them sit overnight, but if you are the effects would be a little more dramatic than on my background.

For the above card I used a combination of the Spice, Sunburnt, Cider, Barley, Slipper & Berry Colour Artist Inks.

I then die cut some lightbulbs, and sentiments from white cardstock and embossed them 3 times with the Bling & Stormy Weather Colour Embossing Powder, to get a lovely thick embossed effect. Don't forget to give your embossing powder a little shake before using it so that the embossing powder and sparkle mix well.

I then created three 4.25" x 5.5" card bases, cut down a piece of glitter cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and die cut my coloured backgrounds with a cross stitch rectangle die and stacked these on top of one another to create the background for my cards.

I then bundled up some silver and gold thread to layer under the sentiments and put together my cards.

I also added a sprinkling of rhinestones and pearls around the sentiments to add a bit more texture and ground the sentiment a little more.

This background was created in the same way but using the Spice, Cider & Citrus Colour Artist Inks.

Watercolour Geodes with Colour Blast Artist Inks

Hello Lovelies.. last week I was super excited to play with the all new Colour Artist Inks. I literally could not put down my paintbrush and stop. These babies are so incredibly vibrant and delicious I cannot even put into words how much I love them.

One of the projects I created were these Geode paintings and I wanted to share the process with you.

Firstly loosely draw a rough oval shape with a pencil on a piece of watercolour paper, mine were about 5 x 7 inches in size.

Load a round brush (a size 6 works well) with clean water and paint along the pencil line to wet your paper. Pick up a tiny bit of the Colour Artist Ink on the tip of your brush and drop the colour into the wet area, right on the outer edge, so that it works its way naturally into the centre.

I used all four blues: Mermaid, Oasis, Calypso & Marine, as well as Walnut and a tiny bit of Soot & Berry Colour Artist Ink. Allow this layer to dry completely before moving onto the next geode ring.

I'm not all that very patient so decided to start on another geode while waiting for this guy to dry. The step by step images for this one are below.

Continue creating new rings moving in towards the centre one by one. Start with a ring of clean water and drop in the colour just like you did for the first ring. I decided to add a natural ring to the outside (while waiting for the centre to dry.. so you could work both inwards and outwards at the same time if you like. The colours used for the outside ring were: Walnut & Soot Colour Artist Inks.

I then moved into some greens: Grass & Lime with a touch of Mermaid Colour Artist Ink.

Lastly I created the crack in the centre of the geode by painting a skinny oval in the very centre with clean water and dropped the colour into the centre rather than to the outside of the oval. This made the colour move outwards rather inwards. You can help it along with your brush a little if need be.

And here is the finished geode.. love how it turned out and I love how insanely vibrant the colours are.

The second geode was created with exactly the same steps as above, but this time focussing more on the purples & pinks. I used the Berry, Cranberry, Slipper and Marine Colour Artist Inks for the first two outer rings.

In the next couple of rings I dropped back on the Berry & Marine and focussed on the Cranberry, Bordeaux, Sunburnt & Spice Colour Artist Ink.

And finally the centre of the geode was a combination of Marine & Berry Colour Artist Ink.

Hope I have inspired you to have a play with the new Colour Artist Inks. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.. and what more.. these geodes were painted using only 1 drop of each colour. Oh yea!

Colour Blast Shimmer Dusts & The Gel Press

Hello lovelies... I was inspired to get my Gel Press out after seeing Rachel Dutko's post on the Colour Blast Blog last week and have a play with my Colour Blast stash and share my process with you and hopefully inspire you to make some prints also.

I love the Gel Press for so many different reasons, but most of all because no print is ever the same and the possibilities are literally endless... hence the name mono-printing.

You can use a heap of art supplies you already probably have on hand for mark making but also tons of items lying around the house or on their way to the bin... and we all love recycling don't we?

I squeezed some white acrylic paint into my palette and added a little bit of the Colour Shimmer Dust in Sunflower, Amber, Lush & Candy. Any acrylic paint will work, mine was just a cheap one I had lying around for ages.

Mix the Colour Shimmer Dust into the paint really well until the colour is nice and even. You will end up with beautiful pastel tones and the more dust you add the more intense the colour will be.

Now its time to get your Gel Press out...
Add the paint to the Gel Press with a small popsicle stick, a palette knife or the end of a paint brush, just make sure you don't use anything sharp that could scratch the surface of the press.

Using a brayer, roll out the paint and until you achieve a colour that you are happy with. You pull the print now on a piece of paper, cardstock, deli paper or tissue paper.

This is the print I pulled from the above images. No mark making.. just the paint and brayer marks. Sometimes prints like these are just perfect if you want a matt for a photo on a layout or for a background for a card... or you can go to town and make some marks :)

Gather your texture stamps, foam stamps (if you don't have foam stamps you could die cut some fun foam using your dies), toilet paper rolls, register rolls, leaves, pencil with a rubber on the end, muslin, calico, stencils, string, ribbon, lace, doilies, scrunched up paper etc... literally anything with a cool texture that is not sharp is worth a try.

Roll out some paint onto your Gel Press and start making marks. I love stamping off the stamps I press into the press onto a print to layer texture upon texture. Once you have some cool marks on your press, pull a print and repeat the process with another colour combo.

Cleaning your brayer off onto paper creates a cool start to a print too so just have a stack of paper next to you and just keep playing. Above is a print with brayer marks & stamped off texture stamps.

Here I have added a few prints after adding marks to the press with stencils. I also used muslin to add a bit more texture through the large opening of the gingko stencil.

Side note: I have a number of Prima & Kaisercraft texture stamps that I don't mind if they get all messed up with paint and ink, but if you are worried about your stamps, wipe them off before the paint dries.

I trimmed down my panel to fit into my small Dylusions Art Journal and inked up the edges with a Black Gelato and smudged it with my finger.

I then gathered some of my favourite Dylusions & Darkroom Door stamps and had some fun. Lastly I got out the Colour Shimmer Cubes and added a little bit of shimmer to the leaves with the Dusty Charcoal.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my process and its sparked you to get out your Gel Press and the Colour Shimmer Dusts and have a play.

Ps.. Don't forget to have fun! xx Kasia

Penguin Pals Stamp & Colour Kit

Waaaaaaa!!!! Excitement plus right here with the second Stamp & Colour Kit release - Penguin Pals. This month the kit is focussed on these adorable little guys. Oh my!
Loved cracking out my Distress Oxides and Copics to create this fun card. The sentiment is from the All Occasions Stamp Set.. love love love that script!

The Penguin Pals kit from Uniquely Creative is packed full of goodies to complement these fun characters, including patterned paper, cardstock, cards & envelopes, bakers twine, the most adorable sequin mix ever which has tiny little snowflakes in it, iridescent pearls, glitter, acetate and of course the Penguin Pals Stamp Set, Fir Trees Die & an inspiration book chocked full of amazing ideas from the Stamp & Colour DT.

This little card was coloured with Distress Inks & Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Cubes.

I added the Stitched Nesting Rounded Rectangles die & the Banner Sentiment Builder Stamp set to create this little layered card.

The First Christmas Stamp Set is just adorable, the little planks of wood can be used to build a stable and the little characters can be used together like in this card or by themselves.
The little Mary can be used as a little girl praying when used by herself. Joseph could be used as a shepherd coupled with the little sheep and the baby Jesus would look amazing with a beautiful gentle glow behind him.

The kit also includes two super cool chipboard Snow Globe Bases, which work perfectly with the Cross Stitch Nesting Arches dies to create shaker cards as above.

I couldn't resist using the little house from the Garden Guys Stamp Set from last kit's release together with the Woodland Creatures Stamp set to make this sweet little card. I cut apart the All Occasions Stamp Set to build the 'sending Christmas hugs' sentiment.

This was such an insanely fun Kit to work with.. seriously I could have just kept on going and going.

Pop over to the Uniquely Creative website to check out the kit and add-on's, check out the list of Stockists or ask your favourite paper crafting store to get the stamps & dies in for you.

Love Layout for Colour Blast

Hello lovelies, Kasia here today with a fun layout using just a few supplies and a whole lotta gorgeous blue. I love sticking to just a few colours when creating layouts and especially when I use a colour photo. For this photo of my daughter I pulled out the blue and black as the main colours I wanted to focus on and went for it.

I gathered a few patterned papers with a black and white pattern and matted my photo loosely with the papers. I added some teal thread between the layers to pull out some of that teal colour in the moss on the rock and also to add a little more texture.

Now for the fun part.. I had a misting bottle with a little bit of the Polar Colour Mica Powder left in it and I added some more water and about 4 little scoops of the Cobalt Colour Shimmer Dust to create a lovely bold blue spray.

I sprayed a white sheet of cardstock through a stencil with my spray and tilted the sheet to get some nice drips.

I then stamped the background using black Archival ink with a fun mixed media stamp from Carabelle which included a cluster of doodled circles and a few single circles.

When the spray & stamping were nice and dry I got out the luscious Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste and added some texture.

I then gathered a few black and white embellies like chipboard hearts, stickers, enamel dots, paper clips and epoxy stickers to finish off my layout.

I loved creating this layout and with such few easy steps, I'm hoping you'll give it a try. Pick your favourite colour and gather your black and white supplies and have fun.

Have Fun!!
